Kelsey Mills-Bunje

About Me

Welcome to Mills-Bunje Therapy! My name is Kelsey Mills-Bunje, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California (#125153) and Nevada (#4385-R). I hold a Master’s in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of San Francisco. I am Gottman Level II trained, which I use in both couples and individual therapy to promote better communication and connection. I also completed the Sex Therapy Certification Program at the California Institute of Integral Studies and am a certified sex therapist through the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT).

I work with individuals, couples, and families to help them connect more deeply with themselves and others. Over the past decade, I have supported clients ages 5 to 85 with a wide variety of challenges. I provide a safe, accepting environment for clients to explore personal issues and offer practical exercises or “homework” to help reinforce growth between sessions.

I draw from multiple evidence-based therapy approaches—including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and the Gottman Method—tailoring sessions to each client’s unique needs. I also bring these tools into my own life, relationships, and parenting experiences, which helps me guide clients in applying strategies in real-world situations. My style is direct yet collaborative, and I welcome feedback to ensure therapy is meaningful and effective.

Sexual Health Philosophy

I believe everyone should have a safe space to discuss their sexuality. Too often, people feel embarrassed, isolated, or afraid to ask questions. Sexuality is an essential part of the human experience, and there is no set “norm.” Human sexual needs and preferences vary widely, including gender, erotic interests, and lifestyle choices. My goal is to provide a non-judgmental space where clients can explore sexual identity, improve communication with partners, and gain clarity on their questions and concerns.

Telehealth / Virtual Therapy

I currently offer therapy exclusively via telehealth, which I’ve found to be effective. This platform allows me to share handouts visually and supports clients in different locations (in CA or NV), even allowing for sessions in flexible settings, like in a car between commitments. I understand telehealth may not feel right for everyone, and I welcome questions or concerns about this format.

Coaching

In addition to my work as a licensed therapist, I offer coaching services for individuals seeking support with personal growth, career and professional development, relationships, intimacy, confidence, focus, and life transitions. Coaching is forward-focused, action-oriented, and skill-based, helping clients clarify goals, build accountability, and create meaningful change in their personal and professional lives.

While therapy is only available to residents of California and Nevada, coaching is offered nationwide and internationally. Coaching is not psychotherapy and does not include diagnosis or treatment of mental health conditions. I bring my experience, tools, and insights from both therapy and personal experience to coaching, guiding clients in applying practical strategies to real-life situations. My style remains direct yet collaborative, and I value client feedback to ensure the coaching process is impactful and effective.
